PERSONAL DATA. Born in Trieste, Italy, in 1956. Married, with two children.

EDUCATION. 1979, Degree in Pharmacy, University of Trieste, Italy; 1979, Professional License; 1983, degree in Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Trieste, Italy.

POSITION. Since 1994 Assistant professor at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Trieste

TEACHING EXPERIENCE. She teached many courses at the Faculty of Medicine (1994-1996) and at the Faculty of Science (1994-now) of the University of Trieste, including Laboratoty microbiology, Applied microbiology, General microbiology and Molecular basis of bacterial patogenicity.

SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS. Her current research interests focus on two major topics, i.e the epidemiology of nosocomial infections and the diffusion of antimicrobial resistance determinants, particularly those carried by integrons. Her studies included topics on Staphylococcus aureus, Helicobacter pylori, Salmonella, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococcus faecalis, Burkholderia cepacia and Acinetobacter. Her interest for the latter bacterial genus included also taxonomy, bioflm production and methods for molecular typing.

PUBLICATIONS AND MEETINGS. She has published over 30 full papers in peer-reviewed international journals, including AAC, JCM, CMI, J Med Microbiol, EID and others. Over 80 communications on her research activity have been presented at scientific meetings.
